The battle for prepaid dominance in Malaysia often centres on a tug-of-war between high speed and unlimited quotas. CelcomDigi is attempting to address both ends of this spectrum with a refreshed prepaid portfolio introduced today. The telco has rolled out two distinct categories of mobile internet passes designed to cater to different usage habits, specifically targeting the “always-on” generation that demands consistent 5G connectivity for streaming and gaming.

For users who prefer a traditional, high-speed quota model, the Prepaid 5G Hyper plans offer a straightforward proposition. The entry-level 5G Hyper 30 pass is priced at RM30 per month and provides 50GB of data with access to both 5G and 4G networks. Stepping up slightly to RM35 per month gets you the 5G Hyper 35 plan, which doubles the data allowance to 100GB. These plans are ideal for users who want maximum network speeds without speed caps, provided they stay within their generous data buckets. Both options come with unlimited calls to all networks and, crucially, unlimited hotspot usage, allowing users to share that data with laptops or tablets without additional friction.

On the other side of the aisle are the Prepaid 5G Power plans, aimed at users who prioritise “unlimited” usage over raw, uncapped speed. The 5G Power 35 plan, priced at RM35 monthly, offers unlimited 5G/4G internet capped at speeds of 18Mbps with a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) of 100GB. For those needing more bandwidth, the 5G Power 45 plan costs RM45 per month and bumps the speed cap to 48Mbps while increasing the FUP limit to 200GB. Like their Hyper counterparts, these plans also include unlimited calls and unlimited hotspot capabilities.
For power users who refuse to compromise on either speed or content, CelcomDigi introduced the Prepaid 5G Power+ tier. The 5G Power+ 55 plan (RM55/month) offers unlimited data with speeds up to 100Mbps and a 200GB FUP, bundled with free access to Viu Premium. At the top of the range sits the 5G Power+ 65 plan at RM65 per month. This flagship offering provides unlimited data with no speed cap (subject to a 200GB FUP) and includes access to Amazon Prime Video.

This restructuring effectively segments the prepaid market. The Hyper plans serve those who want unthrottled bursts of speed for downloads, while the Power series caters to the “stream everything” demographic who need consistent connectivity. The inclusion of unlimited hotspot across all new passes is a significant practical advantage, removing a common pain point for prepaid users who often face separate, meagre quotas for tethering.
The new CelcomDigi Prepaid 5G Hyper and Power mobile internet passes are available immediately. New customers can sign up at any CelcomDigi Store, authorised dealer, or partner outlet. Existing prepaid users can switch to these new passes directly via the CelcomDigi App.
